I used the bulk of the Rydell Visual Art Fellowship Award I won to travel, spending 3 weeks in Spain, a month in Morocco and 2 weeks in London during the summer of 2016 immersing myself in the Art of Islamic Design and learning from master craftsmen how to draw tessellating designs and to carve plaster.
This work is a Synthesis/Melding or Meshing of what I learned in my travels, along with the discovery of computer generated color maps to re-document the 5 public art projects I had created since receiving notification of the Rydell award in January of 2015.
