Erica Padilla decided to use a grant from the Santa Cruz Community Foundation to to enhance the exterior of the Pajaro Valley Prevention & Student Assistance (PVPSA) building and uplift the youth in the Empowerment Program. Kathleen met with the youth for design sessions and then Heidi Alonzo was hired to consolidate the youth designs into one cohesive image.
The seventeen youth members of PVPSA then fabricated the mosaic mural with Kathleen in the Muzzio Mosaic Arts Studio. Kathleen and a crew of volunteers installed the mural and the youth helped grout it.
